Submittal Requirements
- The project must be located within the tri-state Delaware Valley region, defined as Southeastern Pennsylvania up to and including Dauphin County; Southern New Jersey up to and including Mercer County; and the State of Delaware.
- The project must have outstanding local entitlements. The goal is to support good smart growth projects through the local approval process. Thus, the program will consider only project proposals; it is not an awards program for constructed projects or those under construction.
- Seeking Preliminary/Conceptual approval
- Seeking Final approval
- Each Criteria item must be addressed in writing. For each question, provide either a "yes" or "no" answer. If "yes," a brief 2-3 sentence description must be included. If "no," indicate rationale or not applicable.
- 25 Application Copies. The applicant must provide 25
complete copies of the completed Criteria and the following
items, with each complete package bound separately into 8.5" x 11" format:
- Detailed scale site plot plan indicating building footprint(s) of existing and proposed structures, exterior building dimensions, massing, setbacks and circulation patterns. Also include layout and treatment of all open spaces, parking areas, walls, fences, and service areas, as well as adjacent parcels, streets, and roadways. All maps and site plans must include directional compass.
- Site map indicating quarter-mile, half-mile and one-mile radius around target site relative to nearby amenities (transit, roadways, retail, etc.)
- Floor plans and elevations for all sides of all buildings, indicating exterior materials
- Full-color architectural rendering of overall project and/or specific buildings, specifically including pedestrian-level views. Where possible, indicate neighboring buildings and structures.
- Site photographs, landscaping and stormwater management plans, and additional materials may be included.
- Fee. A one-time application fee of $1,000 accompanies
this submittal, payable to Delaware Valley Smart
Growth Alliance.
The applicant will be notified of the date and time of the jury meeting and may attend a portion of the meeting to answer any questions. The DVSGA retains the right to notify the media of any recognized application. All submissions are treated confidentially. Reviewed applications receive either "recognition" or "deferral;" deferred applications will not be disclosed but will receive telephone notification.

Neither the DVSGA nor its individual members or sponsoring entities shall be liable to any builder or owner or to any third party for any damages, loss or prejudice suffered or claimed on account of the recognition or deferral of any plans, drawings or specifications. It is specifically understood that plans are not approved for engineering design, and that by approving such plans and specifications, neither the DVSGA nor any affiliate thereof assume any liability therefore, nor for any defect in any structure constructed from such plans and specifications. Where specific conditions are not covered by the Criteria, the DVSGA shall base its decision on compliance with the intent of the Criteria.
